UAF AG Farm Septic System Replacement Fairbanks, AK
In 2013 Drennon Construction was contracted to install a new septic system for the University of Alaska Fairbanks, this work consisted of constructing a new septic system serving the UAF Agricultural Farm, and a switchover from the existing and failing city utility system. The system was originally designed to be installed across from the farm buildings complex south of West Tanana Drive and the railroad tracks, but when perk test results showed the original location unsuitable for a leach field drainage system, the owner and Drennon negotiated to move the system to the West side of the original location West of Tanana Drive. This constituted changing to a deep trench system deemed necessary to work in the new location. Drennon coordinated with UAF and its engineering firm, PDC, to complete a new design and location change that would allow construction of the project in a timely manner in order to service the failing Agricultural farm during the 2013 work season. The project ultimately consisted of installation of a new manhole, over 200LF of 8 inch insulated ductile iron pipe, a 4000 gal septic tank, a dosing station, and a deep trench lateral field along with associated piping and connections, survey, redlines, SWPPP, and re-vegetation and landscaping of the new system area.
